It Gets Better

There have been moments in my life where I have questioned whether life was worth the living. There were times when I seriously questioned how much quantity of life was worth if I didn’t feel like there was quality. There were moments when I did look for a way out. There were moments when I felt like there weren’t any good options. Even God seemed to abandon me.

But lucky (and mostly blessed) for me, I had friends that referred me to counseling. And that probably literally has saved my life at some point. While I had suicidal ideations I never actually attempted it.

So to the statistically high number of you reading this that have considered it as an out at one time or another — wait. It gets better, I promise. To the few of my friends who have told me they have considered it: it gets better.

Today (or as I wrote this), I’m sitting in the airport, having just got a job in my field with an amazing conference. (My rental car was even one of the models that I’m considering buying in a year, go figure. This is the point where I was just like: ok God you’re just showing off. 🙄💁🏼‍♀️) also the weather there is AMAZING. I have a cat who is crazy and funny and one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I have a tribe of girl friends who support each other and love till the death. I’ll be seeing my best friend again in 74/5 days. My other best friend just passed her NCLEX and got a good job in a place I’m DEFINITELY excited to visit. My parents and I are going on a tropical vacation soon. I might even get a dog when I move. Best of all, I’m happy.

I’m not telling you how good my life is so you feel bad about yours–I’m telling you, it gets better. There were definitely moments when I thought my life was hell–and I’m not going to say it wasn’t. I’m just saying it gets better.

It Gets Better.

So if you’re considering escaping it all, please, please don’t. Get a pet. Go see a counselor. See a doctor. Open up to supportive friends. Message me. There are ways out without going out. I promise. It gets better.

It’s not just something I’m saying.

It truly does get better.

  1. Love it, love it, love it! Thank you soooo much for sharing. It caused my eyes to get all teary-eyed. More stories like this need to be shared so those who read this know that they are not alone and, yes, it does get better! I want to help those see this and encourage those that feel down to just hang on a little longer. That’s why I went into the counseling field. Once again, thanks for sharing! I’m going to repost this, now. 😊
